We couldn’t be more proud of our team and what they accomplished in a short time. 18 employees spent 5 1/2 hours giving Logan Park in Des Moines, IA, a bit of a sprucing up. They painted common areas, cleaned carpets, completed grounds work, and hung donated artwork and nearly 50 new blinds.

A few weeks ago, Cindy Powers and I had the opportunity to accompany Randy Lenhoff, former CEO of Seldin Company, to the National Affordable Housing Management Association Industry Awards Event. Randy was awarded the NAHMA Industry Statesman Award for more than 30 years of dedication to the affordable housing industry. The award is given annually to a NAHMA Executive member in recognition of many years of outstanding leadership and service to NAHMA.

METRO COMMUNITY COLLEGE MULTI-FAMILY BUILDING MAINTENANCE CERTIFICATION

On February 16th, 2018 a select group of Maintenance Technicians earned their certifications for completing Metro Community College’s Multi-Family Building Maintenance Certification. The 90-hour course focused on key areas of multifamily service needs including: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, heating and air, as well as customer service. The course also included a refrigeration and OSHA certification.

In the spirit of the season, Seldin properties partnered with local charities to collect items and spread some holiday cheer. This year we expanded our collection efforts beyond canned food to include first aid supplies, travel-size hygiene products, and cleaning supplies.

Topics included: sustainability, green management, managing a mixed-finance property and trends for 2018.

PROJECT GIVING BACK

Project Giving Back kicked off with two great outreach events in October! What is Project Giving Back? The home office employees wanted to find more ways to connect with the site teams and communities we serve. Thus, Project Giving Back was formed and throughout the year, volunteer groups made up of home office members will help a community in need by assisting with a special project, clean-up or help create care-packages or specialty outreach from afar.

KNOCK.... IF YOU DARE!

Several Seldin properties recently held Halloween decorating contests with some spooky results. There were such great submissions; we love seeing how creative our residents can be!

WHOA, DOGGY!

Park 120, Avenue 204 and Montclair all took full advantage of their pools at the end of the summer. Before draining their pools, they each held their own Doggy Dip event, allowing residents to play with their dogs in the pool.

Linden Place – Grand Opening!

Seldin Company had their Grand Opening ribbon cutting ceremony for Linden Place, Wednesday, August 23rd. Linden Place is an affordable apartment community for seniors located in Council Bluffs’ historic Gunn School. Seldin Company preserved the original Gunn School exterior and converted the interior into apartment homes.
