April 26th marked the 25th anniversary of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. The program exposes girls and boys to what a parent or mentor does during their work day and shows them the value of their education. Seldin Company has participated in this event for the past 4 years and this program demonstrates the value we place on a work-life balance for our employees.
“I look forward to Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day each year. It’s always fun to see our employees and their children or grandchildren interact in our work setting,” said Leah Bond, VP of Human Resources. “It’s easy to see that our employees are so proud of their families and I think that by the end of the day, their families get a small glimpse into the important work that their parents and grandparents do for all of us at Seldin. We want our employees to be successful at work and in life and it’s fun to see these two paths intersect at this event each year.”
The children at the corporate office were tasked with planning an ice cream social for the day. All of the day’s activities revolved around this task and they were able to move throughout the various departments during the day to see how everyone works together to get tasks done. The children worked on marketing their event, planning event logistics, compiling a budget, as well as gathering RSVPs and shopping.
These bright, young minds came up with the idea to have a donation-optional event that raised money for the charity, Completely Kids. We were impressed with the brilliant ideas this group came up with when they worked together.
